The 34-year-old has enjoyed a glittering career, playing almost 300 games in a nine-year spell at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger, where he
established himself as one of the world's top midfielders. The
Frenchman has been awarded over 100 international caps and won the World
Cup in 1998. He also played for Juventus and Inter Milan before joining Manchester City earlier this year.
However, Vieira is quoted in French daily L'Equipe, indicating that he could retire at the end of the season.
Vieira said, "At 34, it is complicated.
"I have a great chance to finish here at Manchester City this season or next."
He has so far played five games for Roberto Mancini's side this season, scoring against Blackburn Rovers last month. However, Vieira is
unlikely to play more than a bit-part role in Mancini's star-studded
squad at Eastlands.
Vieira has won four Serie A titles at Inter Milan and three Premier League titles and four FA Cups at Arsenal.
