COMBINED with Rooney for the goal but otherwise struggled with the rest of his team-mates. 6

OUT there to destroy Barcelona's creativity but simply could not stop them. 5
WAYNE ROONEY
UNITED'S one and only move had him at it's heart, scoring a great goal. 7

BARELY touched the ball. United just could not find the Mexican to give him a chance. 5

AFTER beating cancer, the Barca hero had any United man that came his way for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 10

THE world's best centre-half! A truly inspiring performance and he spent a lot of the time as a second centre-forward. 9

STAND-IN centre-half for the half-fit Puyol, but the former Liverpool man did enough to keep Javier Hernandez quiet. 7

The anchor. Provided the shield for Iniesta and Xavi. When needed, showed deft touches to turn defence into attack. 8

THE maestro. Will be missed more than most when he retires. But not by Michael Carrick. Made Giggs look past it. 10

THE virtuoso. Joint second best player in the world with Xavi. Gave the entire United team a nauseating evening. 10

The best. Possibly the greatest football United have faced in their illustrious history. 10

SUBLIME all-round show and his brilliant curling third goal provided the sad epitaph to Van der Sar's playing career. 9
