Carlos Tevez v Sergio Aguero: How City's skipper compares with his potential heir

If Carlos Tevez leaves Manchester City this summer, his fellow Argentinian Sergio Aguero could be just the man to fill his boots.

Tevez, who is currently in Argentina, is the subject of a £40million bid from Brazilian club Corinthians and the City skipper says he wants to move closer to his home city in Argentina after his family failed to settle in Manchester.

Here Sportsmail takes a look at how he compares with the man who is set to replace him.

Youthful enthusiasm

At just 23, Aguero is four years younger but has already scored 121 goals in 281 appearances for club and country (0.43 goals per game).

Tevez, by comparison, has scored 101 in 262 (0.39 goals per game).

Euro jackpot

Aguero has scored 16 goals in 34 appearances in European competition. Tevez has scored six in 33. Could Aguero be the key to City’s success in the Champions League?

Twenty-twenty vision

Aguero was joint third top scorer in the Spanish league last season — his 20 goals eclipsed only by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Tevez came top of the Premier League chart with the same
number. Remarkably, each scored 33 per cent of his team’s goals.

One for the team

Tevez directly contributed to 43 per cent of Manchester City’s 60 goals, whereas Aguero scored or assisted in 35 per cent of Atletico’s 62 goals in La Liga last season.

Vital statistics

City have never lost in the league when Tevez has scored, drawing twice andwinning 25 times. Aguero’s goals in the last two seasons came in 15 wins, four draws and six defeats for Atletico.

Golden boys

Both men have won Olympic gold medals with Argentina, Tevez in 2004 and Aguero in 2008.

PS. They can both sing too!

Off the pitch, both players have links with the cumbia music genre in Argentina. The band Los Leales
recorded El Kun Aguero (the player’s nickname) with Sergio as the lead singer and Tevez is the frontman for Pialo Vago, a band that includes his brother Diego.
