Premier League - Redknapp admits Dunne interest

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp believes he is on with a chance of signing Manchester City defender Richard Dunne.

The 28-year-old centre-back is expected to leave City this summer to escape the uncertainty surrounding the club, and Redknapp hopes that Pompey's new European status, by virtue of winning the FA Cup, will tempt the Republic of Ireland international to Fratton Park.

When asked if he is interested in the City captain, Redknapp said: "Very much, I like Richard Dunne.

"I think he's a top player but I think there's a couple of clubs in for him at the moment, but I think we've got as good a chance as anyone now.

"We've got in the UEFA Cup for next year and we've got some good players so hopefully we can start to compete with the Tottenhams and the Villas and teams like that."

Redknapp has also been linked with bringing England striker Peter Crouch back to the club from Liverpool, but the 61-year-old boss insists that at this stage no contact has been made.

"I haven't spoken to Peter. I haven't had any conversations with anyone at Liverpool so there's definitely been no contact," added Redknapp, who signed Crouch during his first spell at Portsmouth.

Redknapp balked at the suggested asking price of £15million, but reports claim the Reds may be willing to settle for £10million, to which Redknapp said: "That's getting more interesting."

นายใหญ่ถิ่น แฟร็ตตัน พาร์ค กล่าวว่า "ริชาร์ด ดันน์ คือผู้เล่นที่ผมชอบ ผมอยากที่จะนำเขามาอยู่ที่นี่ และ ปีเตอร์ สตอร์รี่ (ผู้บริหารระดับสูง พอร์ทสมัธ) กำลังทำหน้าที่นี้อยู่ มันดูเหมือนจะมีการยื้อเวลาออกไปเล็กน้อยในตอนนี้ แต่หวังว่า เขาจะได้พบกันอีกครั้ง แล้วค่อยรอดูว่า เราจะสามารถทำอะไรได้บ้าง"
