Manchester City striker Benjani faces a six-week lay-off - ending his chances of a move to get out of the shadows of Mark Hughes' squad.

The Zimbabwean's switches to Hull and Portsmouth collapsed and he was hoping to team up again with Sven Goran Eriksson at Notts County on loan to get his sharpness back.

However, Benjani has now been ruled out with a nagging thigh problem and he is unlikely to be playing - or moving - until the start of November.
