Manchester City are reportedly ready to offer midfielder Stephen Ireland in any potential deal to land Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard. Roberto Mancini has been linked with repeated hopeful attempts to land the Anfield hero and is now willing to offer players as part of any big money deal to sign the England captain.

Although any hope of signing the 29 year old midfielder seem doomed the Eastlands side are not ready to give up just yet and believe that offering talented Irish international Ireland into the bargain may tempt the Merseyside outfit to consider a sale.

Previous interest in Gerrard shown by Man City

Manchester City are ready to splash out £140m in the summer to land Liverpool pair Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard. (Daily Mirror)

Liverpool were thought to be interested in Ireland during Rafa Benitez’s reign but without a manager in place it seems even less likely that any deal would be accepted. Owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are under immense pressure from the club’s fans after lumbering the club with massive debts and even though a sale would help repay some of the debt the ramifications of selling the talismanic player would surely be too much for the American pair to consider.

These stories are ridiculous Gerrard won’t go to another english club. Hopefully some sense prevails and king Kenny gets the managers job or another manager that can convince him we will be challenging for titles then he won’t go anywhere. City need to stick to picking up the money grabbing mercenary types. Do rate ireland but not nearly as highly as Gerrard, Aquilani or Benayoun.

The problem is this IS how the Man City board think. They don’t know that a player like Gerrard will never join them. These guys have tried to sign Torres, Kaka, Ronaldo, you name it.

They are better off nabbing unhappy players who do not mind not playing Champions League football next season. I have nothing against City fans (real City fans, i.e. those who were there before the current owners). The problem is they will become more and more hated the more mercenaries they sign.

More tabloid nonsense! 90% of true City fans don’t even want Gerrard! I’m getting really sick of all these attempts by player’s Agents and the scummy media to use and abuse City. Unless you see it announced on the official MCFC website, then there is nothing but rumour and mischief making going on – besides, nothing will happen on any big transfers now until after the World Cup will it?!!

Come on City there are better buys out there than paying £40M for Gerrard (bad move). Gerrard has been a good player and will never play with same affection as he does for LFC. Liverpool would snatch our hands off for £40M and Stevie would only be in it for the money… 29 it’s downhill for him from now, don’t even think about it – go get Torres !

Gerrard is not worth any more than £20M max at 29 years old. They have half decent goal keeper (feeling he’ll be picking a few more balls out his net next season), Mascerano worth a few quid, Torres only player worth serios money, as for the rest they’re worth FA

You only had to look at Ozil tonight to see why Gerrard is a spent force. Why pay 40m hahahaha, for a pensioner with lead in his legs when you can have a player who oozes class and creativity for, before WC 15m, after WC, 25m.

Ozil has that football on a string. Gerrard was and never will be in the class of that lad tonight.

Stevie Gerrard has been a great player but I certainly wouldn’t want him at City. Ozil ouzes class so does the likes of Hamsik, would take either of these two ‘young’ lads ahead of Gerrard. Wise-up City we’re not here to plug the holes in Liverpool’s sinking ship. Take Torres to bail them out for a few months.

Mascherano has told the press he is learning italian whilst he is at the world cup. Lost all respect for him with all his manoeuvering, might as well just have some pictures taken in his new inter milan kit. 30m for him, could get Flamini for under half that.

Warren-He was the best defensive midfielder in the premiership the season before going to milan and formed the best midfield partnership with fabregas who is very similar in style to Gerrard. Proven premiership quality is what we could do with and Flamini is still young, he fits the bill in every way as things aren’t working for him in milan, also experienced right back cover for johnson while kelly and Darby develop. If we could get him for 10m would do it as soon as Mascherano is sold and use the rest for a move on turan.

Im not being funny but there seems to be a lot of deluded retarded people commenting on these pages. How the hell can you say that Ozil or Hamsik are better than Steven Gerrard. Are you retarded? Gerrard has played at a higher level than the pair of them his whole career. He has captained his country and plays quality football 99% of the time. If it wasn’t for him then Liverpool wouldn’t finish in the top 5, and thats coming from a liverpool fan. He has bailed Liverpool out so many times its ridiculous. He spurred us on to Champions League glory in 05 and then he did the same in the FA Cup a year later. Neither Hamsik or Ozil can boast anything in regards to that. He has been valued at £60 million pounds and their are sides such as Chelsea and Manchester City willing to pay it for his services, with Real Madrid valuing him at £52 Million. So therefore, he is much more widely regarded as a better player than both of them. Hamsik and Ozil haven’t proven anything on the big stage and both have been playing for pretty mediocre teams in Napoli and Werder Bremen. Thats just the same as goes for Gareth Barry. He looked good in a mediocre Villa team and City bought him, and to be honest he will never be a Frank Lampard or Steven Gerrard. I rate Milner before Barry. Im sick of people constantly chatting rubbish on sites like this. The harsh reality is that even with all the money going on at Manchester City, just as was proven in the first years thats Abramovich took over at Chelsea, money wont buy you success. You need a team with a few players who are team players and a couple of individuals who can change games. Manchester Citys players look lost to be honest. No wonder Robinho went to Santos. Your best players this season were Tevez, De Jong and Craig Bellamy, who Liverpool should of never sold. Funny how your money has been a complete waste. You have bought Barry, Toure, Adebayor, Santa Cruz, Robinho and they have been utter rubbish. Stop dreaming city, you need to wake up and realise that having great individual players doesnt guarantee success. It pains me to say it but you never will be Manchester United. Manchester United are only doing so well because they have the hard workers like Darren Fletcher, Rooney, Scholes. People who put in a good shift. The same as Kuyt at Liverpool does a lot of running and closing down. The majority of Man Citys players are lazy, dont chase back and work for the team.

Why the hell would all your previous managers including your current manager being interested in Steven Gerrard if hes no good? Exactly, the truth is that he is world class and everybody knows it. He even displayed class the other night against the USA. Him and Heskey were the only two players that stood out. Funny how everyone slated Gerrard saying that he dont care about England but hes the only one who plays his heart out when it matters. The country makes me laugh when they say Gerrard is crap. Shows how many people are on drugs in the UK.

There will be endless reports this summer about players who Manchester City are supposed to be buying. The truth is that despite the money that they have available, they won’t get the top players because City cannot offer Champions League in 2010-11. Even average players earn so much that they can be picky, because off-the-field earnings are dependent on playing success, so missing out on the big time for a year or more will not appeal. The saga of Robinho will not recur. Man City are doomed to put in big money offers for overpriced players.

Calm down our Kid.

You have had your time and now its ours. Liverpool are skint, will win nothing in the next 10 to 15 years at least. Cannot afford to buy anyone and will become a feeder club. Strange how even the Billionaires won’t come in for your lot. As much potential as a rotting corpse. Which is probably what your club in effect resembles.

You can spout all the history you want. The top players will not come to you because you cannot afford them, cannot pay them and will win nothing for them. Get real, smell the coffee. Liverpool are as good as buried. Don’t be surprised when Torres goes, because he will. No one wants Gerrard. You can keep the old crone. All arms and legs.

Get yourself ready for next season. Mid table at best, oops sorry, that’s where you were last season. Ok, lower half of the table at best. Get ready for the Championship boys, it’s heading to a city near you and it begins with L and ends in l.

Deluded man city fans . These are the fans who last year said they would be up there challenging for the league and be in the champions league . Oh dear that didn’t go to well did it lol . How much have you spent so far ? 200 mill and only one class player in tevez , whos just there for the money . Guess that’s the kind of players your team attracts to the club . Never mind maybe one day your team will sign a world class player . But don’t hold your breath as you will end up the same colour as your home shirt lol . YNWA
